Granlibakken

74 Secluded Acres … The Perfect Tahoe Getaway …
History and hospitality meet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the west shore of North America’s largest alpine lake, spectacular Lake Tahoe. Minutes from the water, Granlibakken Conference Center and Lodge welcomes guests to a valley that has been popular since visitors tobogganed here in 1928. A Norwegian ski jumper, Kjell “Rusty” Rustad, built the first lodging and gave the area its name in 1947. In 1978, the property was purchased by its present owners, Bill and Norma Parson. The Parson family continues to operate the resort today, maintaining the high standards of hospitality that have brought so many guests back again and again to this “hill sheltered by fir trees” (translation of the Norwegian name).

Some return for the tranquility. They appreciate the privacy afforded by the accommodations and the peaceful surroundings. There’s a feeling of seclusion to this valley, although the location is easily accessible.

Some come back for the food. Executive Chef Ron Eber has been creating Granlibakken cuisine for 25 years. With his attention to flavor, quality and presentation, the resort’s meals have become a benchmark for fine food at the lake.

Some bring groups back to Granlibakken. For board meetings, seminars, conferences, reunions, team building retreats… They know they can count on personalized service, affordable rates and satisfied attendees, whether there are 4 or 400 of them.

Some come back for the value. Reasonable rates include a daily hot breakfast buffet. Personal lodging and recreation packages offer activity discounts. And the all-inclusive conference package features meeting facilities with audio-visual equipment and internet access, comfortable lodging, three delicious meals each day, a cocktail reception and coffee service.

Some simply return for the fun of it. The activities at the resort, like relaxing in the pool, hot tub and sauna, taking a ski or snowboard lesson, playing tennis, running the par course, snowshoeing, hiking… Not to mention all the nearby, year round recreation. Lake Tahoe is famous for its waters, ski slopes, trails, indoor and outdoor entertainment…

For many, Granlibakken has become a tradition with its unique combination of thoughtful service, inspiring surroundings and indoor/outdoor adventures.
